I am working on implementing mdc-1200 ID department wide. Asa department we are using Kenwood Tk-5210 and Tk-2810 radios. I have everythingworking fine except on my XTS5000. Everything ID’s like it should during normaltransmissions. When I activate the emergency button on anything they show the emergencyreceived message along with which radio. All radios are giving the audible alertexcept this XTS5000. I have gone though and selected the alert and displayeverywhere can find it in the codeplug. I just can’t make this radio sound thealert to the emergency from another radio. Am I missing something here? Imanaged to make this work on my APX7000 and 80+ Kenwood’s without problems so I’mnot a complete idiot.
HOST R.16.00.00
DSP R.16.00.01

IIRC this was a little tricky to set up but I haven't had to do it for a while (it's all P25 these days).

The XTS should make a two-tone sound (wee-waa-wee-waa-wee-waa) and display "EA Received" plus the sender's radio ID (or alias if it's been entered) on the display, I know this works between Motorola radios but I've never tried with a KW in the loop?

When I get some spare time (which is rare these days) I'll have a look at a known working codeplug, if nobody beats me to it that is?

Under the MDC system>advanced make sure the make sure the emerg alarm rx is checked. also make sure the emerg enable is checked MDC system>Emergency if you want to be able to send emergency alarms. Note you will have to fill out the revert info too as the radio will want to go to where ever you tell it to on a emergency transmisssion.

Under radio configuration, go to radio wide. Once in radio wide go to TPS, under emergency alarm Rx indicator type, you should select Alert and display. Did this help?

Even using only Motorola this still won't alert. I do get the EMERGENCY CALL across the screen of the XTS and which radio it is. Just no alarm.

Just a thought, but... Could 'Alert Tones' under 'Radio Wide' be disabled?

Wish I had more experience with these beasties... best of luck!

Yeah I am starting to find that out. We had BK radios up until a couple years ago. Now I have finally gotten some radios we can actually do something with at work. I know we are way behind times implementing this feature now compared to many of other places but it is a start. Does anyone have a codeplug for an XTS5000 with this working that I could look at tab for tab? it doesn't matter what band, just as a conventional MDC system what has what I am looking to do.

Finally progress! I got the the XTS5000 to alert. I used my APX7000 to transmit the emergency on a simplex channel. The XTS5000 is now alerting the way it should. The Kenwood radio will send the alert to the XTS5000 and the 5000 will show emergency call and the radio ID on the display however it still won't activate the alerting though.

The the XTS5000 will alert the Kenwood radios just fine. At this point I think it will take some more messing around to make everything correct. Dispatch however is able to decode but the Motorola's and Kenwoods.

Looking at the CPS v18 release notes, Motorola notes an issue where the emergency tone does not sound on receiving radios. Their note is fairly cryptic, so I'm not sure if this is actually related or not, but it sounds similar to the issue you described. Maybe someone else can shed some additional light on this. I will dig a little deeper as well.

Issue Updates:

Abstract: Emergency Tone does not sound on receiving radios
System Platforms Affected: P25 Conventional
Special Configurations: Conventional Talkgroups in use
User Symptom: When one radio activates Emergency Alarm, the other radios receiving
the alarm on the System-Wide talkgroup do not always sound the Emergency tone.
Description: This firmware issue has been resolved.

What is being described sounds very similar to your issue, however the environment is different (P25 conventional TG.) I wonder if the problem extends further than Ma M knows or is describing here?

I hope resurrecting this thread from the dead wont end me of in some hot water...but i'm having the exact same problem as the OP and haven't found a solution to it. I figured before I started reaching out with phone calls id ask the brilliant group on here if they had any ideas. The issue is across platforms...XTS5000 vhf running 20.00.01 XTS2500 running 20.00.01 and APX7000 running 11.05.00. I'm pretty sure its an issue on the receiving side since a Harris unity will receive the emergency just fine. This is all being tested on a simplex analog channel. I am having similar problems on p25 but its sporadic. Id be happy to send the codeplug off if someone has been able to remedy the issue in the past.

PM me the XTS2500 codeplug. I'll look at it for you. I had to fight the fight with Kenwoods + Motorolas not too long ago.

A little progress was made last night. It seems as though its an issue with the hex MDC id that the radio has... Its 3DA9... If I change the ID it seems to work fine. Now I am really stumped. Is this a bug in the firmware or is there some something i'm missing?
