Is anyone here capable of reading what is sent from a portable or mobile radio to a repeater during an active site search (the wake up message) I tried calling Motorola a few times and all they would tell me was it's a "wake up message" but not what is contained within the message, I did get one tech to tell me it's a RSSI reading but he wasn't sure.

I'm looking to find out if the radio ID is within the wakeup message, maybe someone here could read the message a post it here?

I don't know for certain so happy to be corrected but I think it is what's known as the Standalone inbound Reverse Channel (RC) burst. If this is the burst used there is no mobile ID encoded as you can see form this diagram taken from ETSI TS 102 361-1 V2.2.1 (2013-02):

Since this elementary burst is just 10ms long you could probably confirm this is the correct burst by measuring the burst period of a radio when roaming into a dummy load.

This also appears to be the basis for Mototrbo transmit interrupt feature see:

Interesting, I wonder if anyone here can confirm this by reading a wake up transmission from a mototrbo radio? I could also look at the last heard list on the marc system and see if it reads an active site search on there system and if my id comes through

OK I have testes the active site search and it does not register on the DMR Marc system after it finds a site. My guess is it's just a handshake between the repeater and the radio.

I can tell you that there is no loging of ID's with the cBridge or at the DMARC DE site as a result of roaming, if there was the logs would be full of my ID as I roam daily during my commute over three sites. From time to time I force site updates in the interests of building an idea of the actual coverage.

If the burst is not the RC burst as I suggested above then perhaps there is other debug info available. Can I ask what problem you are actually trying to solve here?
