Mototrbo ARS and system data

Hello,
My problem is lot of system and registration data traffic on Mototrbo networkbetween radios and Smart PTT,
which causing unavailability for voice call.
Network configuration is: one repeater DR 3000 (one site), radios DM4600 andSPTT dispatcher in IP site connection config.
Repeater is connected on SPTT with Ethernet.
Settings important for producing data on network are:
Beacon is disable on repeater; on radios ARS is active and set onsystem change (there is no system change); admit criteria is color codefree, active site search is disable; now trying with data call confirmactive, but it produce much more system data.
In SPTT monitoring we can see over and over registration of all radiosand lots of system data.
Repeater works all the time. Average RSSI on repeateris -85dBm, noise is below -100 dBm.
Thanksfor any suggestion.
Sorry for my poor English.

If you have ARS active in the radio you need an ARS server to acknowledge the ARS messages or you will have a packet storm --

Be sure you have a server / process that is responsible on the system and that it's ID and the ARS ID in the radio match..

Confirm data call has nothing to do with ARS..

the guys at smartptt are really good at technical issues - and will even remote into your system to diagnose if needed.

worth giving them a call or email.

Thanks for reply.
Radios DM4600 and Smart PTT radio server has enable ARS and same ARS radio ID. They should communicate only once, on system change or turn on/ off DM4600, instead they communicate about six times at once, and soon after again. Radio server logged all ’registration, and ’successful registration’. Without that I would think they don‘t understand each other.
I guess since SPTT like users application also produce ARS, Mototrbo consider this like users data call, so we try with data call confirmed, but it produces even more system traffic.

The symptoms you are describing is exactly what happens when either:-

1. the ARS server is NOT receiving/responding to the remote radio's requests or
2. the Remote radio is not recieving the ARS server's response.

I personally, would be checking that the ARS server is set up and running correctly.
(Possibly, if the ARS server is on a Win Box, the Win ROUTE table may not be set correctly - does text messaging work, is GPS working? etc).

(FYI: The ARS server's response will tell a remote radio when to do another ARS requery).

cheers

Hello,
thanks for reply.
I agree with you. Maybe No.2 is more likely ‘Remote radio is not receiving the ARS server's response’.
The Smart PTT radio server first record one ARS from the DM4600 like ‘Registration’ and then record one answered ARS from the SPTT to the DM4600 like ‘Success Registration’ per session.
System (repeater) monitoring in the Smart PTT Dispatcher record much more ARS and system data per session.
After 15 to 30 minutes same DM 4600 start new session with sending new ARS to the SPTT.
So, or the radio station doesn’t understand ARS answer/acknowledge sent from radio server to DM4600 (Success Registration) and after pause try again, or the radio station thinks they change system.
This week we upgrade firmware on all station on same firmware R02.40.02, the repeater is last week upgraded on R02.40.01. Nothing is changed. Did anybody use ARS and Smatr PTT?

ARS yes, SmartPTT no --

Check your code plug and be sure that Network Services are setup properly, and that the Control Station Data is Blank unless you have some thing specific you want there. I have seen pack storms caused by setting in this paragraph.
