On a digital channel, there is a checkbox for "IP Site Connect". The pop-up help describes it as "This feature assigns the selected channel as an IP Site Connect enabled channel." From what I can tell, checking the box allows for selection of a roam list, and doesn't seem to change anything else. Transmitting on a channel without this checkbox enabled, the call still goes out over IPSC to other repeaters.

I know there's an option in the repeater programming to enable/disable IPSC for each timeslot; the repeater I'm using has both timeslots IPSC enabled. So apparently no matter what the IPSC checkbox on the subscriber, if the repeater has the timeslot IPSC enabled, the call will still go out over IPSC.

Am I getting this right? Looking for a way to restrict a call to only the repeater and not sent over IPSC, without changing the repeater programming (I am able to change the repeater programming, It's just not an option in this application).

Devices in use:
XPR6550 FW01.12.15
XPR8400 FW02.40.12
CPS 11.5

You've got it right. Enabling that checkbox in the subscriber means you can assign a roam list to that particular channel but if the repeater is programmed for IPSC on both slots, it'll still send traffic over the network. Of course, if there's no connectivity, it won't go anywhere but it sounds like that's not your issue. Why is reprogramming the repeater not an option?

It's linked up on a large repeater network; was hoping to do some off-network experimenting while maintaining network connectivity. (both timeslots have linked talkgroups). Too bad certain talkgroups can't be kept local, and it has to be a whole timeslot.

It can be done on a per-talkgroup basis with Linked Capacity Plus. You can set up a talkgroup so it brings up whatever sites you want to be included in the call (or none).

LCP has its limitations -- and it's also proprietary. And expensive. And...

You can also set up talkgroup routing with a c-Bridge. However, local calls are still transmitted upstream to the c-Bridge, so it's kind of a waste of data.

Best way to do it in your situation is to unlink a timeslot in the repeater codeplug config, and do your testing. Keep in mind you can have multiple channels in your repeater; simply clone your main channel and configure the additional ones so you have TS1, TS2 or TS1 & TS2 for IPSC linking. Toggle the channels via RDAC so you're not wasting your time doing site visits to reprogram. Best thing about this method is it does not require the IP Repeater Programming software EID as you're not doing codeplug reprogramming. RDAC/channel changing is its own thing.
