So now, my impressions. Keep in mind I use this radio primarily for analog. I would have liked it to have capacity plus but we know it isn't possible for now.

- The radio is small and light but we all know that. I can put it in a pocket and forget about it; a lot of smartphones are bigger than this radio.

- I like that I can put more than 16 channels in a zone. But, you can only program 3 zones in total including the channel pool.

- IDs are limited to 4 characters for them to fit in the display; only letters, numbers and spaces are permitted.

- Channel names are also letters, numbers and spaces with a maximum of 12 characters.

- When I receive IDs thru MDC, it will display for about a second or two and go away.

- I would have liked for the radio to display the channel name when it is stopped on a channel during scan. Some will say the radio has to display the ID but here's how I would like it. When the radio is stopped on a channel during scan, it should display the channel name the whole time during RX apart from when the MDC ID is received for one ore two seconds. I suppose Moto could tweak that in a update?

- By having one programmable button, your options are limited. The short press can be programmed for an "action list". That action list can be set with 7 features maximum and not all actions are available; i.e. nuisance delete. You browse thru the action list after you short press the button and press + and -. So i had to program my scan on/off on the first feature of the action list and program the nuisance delete on the long press.

- Privacy is only basic.

I may be wrong but I think Moto could change/add display fonctions and more in the future.

....and a couple of thing I noticed.

When you press the info button, it displays the signal strength and the battery level. Only thing is that it will display for barely a second.

Has anyone received a VHF SL300 yet? I put three in service this week and I noticed that on occasion reception drops off to near non existent. A power cycle of the radio seems to correct the issue for a couple hours. I have not noticed this issue with the UHF version.

Yes and no customer complaints have come in (yet) and they were sold to the types of customer that will complain if something is wrong.
