Problem radio
: XTS2500 Model2 800mhz
9600 Baud trunking
Firmware= 9.00.14

CPS version: 20.01.00, latest I can find

Goal: Radio is a surplus purchase. It was originally programmed to a Smartzone system and locked with an ASK. I don't want access to the trunking info necessarily, I just want it gone.
Eventual goal is to get the radio going for 900mhz ham use which will require hex editing and tuning. Different issue for later questions though.

What I've done: Downloaded CPfix write protect remover. I have the program up and running and communicating with the radio. BUT, the radio is only at Firmware 9.00.41, contradictory to the user guide for CPfix
So, using a legit refresh key, Ive attempted to upgrade the firmware. The latest CVN file I can find is DVN4301G.CVN which does not upgrade the radio. It stays at it's current firmware level.

Question(s): Is my radio failing to upgrade the firmware because I actually have an old CVN file?
If the CVN is old, is there a source for newer ones short of an MOL account?

I did a bit of searching on the site here and didn't find an answer to my questions. If I missed it I apologize. New user and all.

What is the model number? Sounds like its an "AN" which R09.xx firmware is the latest that those 4meg models will support.

Yep, there it is. Looks like I'm pooched LOL.

I didn't even look if it was an AN or BN before.

Thank you mwb9122

I went to your profile, but I don't see the option to send you a message. I assume it is because my profile is so new. Or I could be asleep at the wheel and missing the obvious.

Before you put too much time into your project, if your goal is to use an 800 MHz XTS2500 on 900 MHz, it's not going to work. You need to find a 900 MHz XTS2500.
