Hi,

We are looking for a system for a customer who will have 10 sites, and requires priority over 1 Talkgroup so that it is ALWAYS available as a free channel.
They also have 6 other Talkgroups that can share a repeater.
They also require GPS

Thinking of options to do this and so far I have :

2 repeaters per location, 1 IP Site Connect, 1 Linked Capacity plus

Repeater 1- Slot 1 IPSC - Critical TG
Repeater 2- Slot 2 IPSC - GPS Data Revert

Repeater 2 Slots 1 and 2 would be Linked Capacity plus for the 6 non critical TGs

Is this an efficient way of doing this ?

I have not done a lot with LCP yet but it looks like we would have to keep LCP as 2 sites at each location, to tell each channel to use a particular site, so that the non critical calls dont get trunked onto all timeslots.

Any advice ?

thanks

You could just use the transmit interrupt feature for the priority talkgroup and keep it all LCP.

There was a reason we couldn't use Tx interrupt but can't think what it is now, does Tx interrupt interupt everything on that channel or interupt it's own tg only

Using the TX interrupt would only affect the TG your on. You could use the All Call with TX interrupt. There is no way to set priority TG on a LCP system. Connect Plus and Cap Max you can set TG priority in the controller.

With LCP and only two TS's you still are going to get some blocking.

Are your non critical TG's light enough in loading and traffic that you could simply keep the second repeater as a second (redundant) IPSC system? IPSC is a cheaper alternative. For example for the second repeater TS1 could be wide area linked, serve as a backup for repeater 1 TS1 and support those non critical TG's that need wide area. TS2 could be local only for each site and support those TG's requiring only local coverage. Curious to hear your thoughts on this.

Hi, thanks for the reply,

I believe the traffic on the non critical TGs would be light enough that shouldn't be too many busies on LCP, but maybe too busy for IPSC single slot, All the non critical groups are needed wide area.

Definately will find out more about if they could operate on a single slot or 2 slot load sharing basis.

The only disadvantage from my version to your version is cost ?

Have you looked into Tier III?

The reason I say that, most vendor's have a protocol that keeps a time slot open in the trunk for priority talk groups (usually the time slot opposite of the control slot. So a two repeater per site system would give you 3 time slots with one being available to priority at all times. Also the way Tier III is setup, if the control slot doesn't have any subscribers affiliated for that talkgroup, it doesn't key locally.
