Hello,

I recently acquired a Motorola DM3601 for next to nothing and need to program it. When I went to program it, I received an error stating “Region not supported.” I know this is a radio from the EU or somewhere else but I was just looking for any hacks or work arounds that would allow me to program this radio using North American CPS?

The model number on the radio is MDM27JNH9LA2AN.

Thanks in advance!

No such thing -- You need the EMEA licensed CPS to program this radio --

For the PRO/WARIS series radios there was a registry mod that would enable all regions.
I am not sure if it would work with the MOTOtrbo CPS.
If you want to play, the PRO/WARIS series mod was to change theis registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Motorola\ProRadio\FSK\SerializedString
Value: Set the value of the key to "@%&MAHUS"

Unfortunately, that reg change does not work on TRBO cps.

TRBO region is dictated by data in multiple portions of the radio. Not just codeplug. NA TRBO cps requires NA firmware. Different firmware (NA) would have to be present in your unit to accomplish what you want.

Thanks everyone for the help. Guess I'll be putting it on the fleabay or seeing about reflashing it to a 4550.

firmware of the CPS or of the DM3601? I'm not entirely sure on the DM3601 since I can't read it but I'm using 10.8 CPS.

You can't check it via the radio information menu?

My bad. The current firmware is D01.6.08. It's got a codeplug of 07.00.05.

That radio needs some magic. Sometimes magic works, sometime it doesn't. It's dependent on the bootloader.
