So it doesn't fully boot up. Brand new out of the box from Moto and went to program it for the customer. Anyone seen this and is it an easy fix or a return to Moto deal?

We have had several do that. They had to go back to Moto. We have a very high failure rate on the 3500 series. A customer with 150 of them is at about a 20% failure rate between this issue and them just dying.

no need to worry

Forts I wouldn't worry too much. My experience with this radios has been rock solid, and I really like the side connector versus the PITA of the 6000/7000 series. We sale a ton of these radios and while everyone gets the occasional bad apple, this is the first time I've ever seen this in an XPR Gen 2 radio.

Overall we love these radios, and our customers who use them in a very demanding environment (heat, moisture, long days, fast paced athletic environment), where they get treated poorly love them as well. Good bang for the buck. I hope your experience is similar to mine.

I have only put out a couple dozen of the 3500 series and one customer that uses them with remote speaker mics has had issues with them giving a disconnect/reconnect tone with the RSM. It is almost as if the pins don't land right in the middle of the contact or somehow they are putting enough pressure on the connector when in a vehicle to cause it pull away from the pads. I have not been happy with them. I told them they would be better than the CP200 that continued to have assy connector breakage even when using the retainer.

Oh yeah, simple fix send it back to Motorola. I had one that had a display problem under warranty, when it came back they claimed they replaced the ptt paddle. Yeah right!

The three issues we continue to see with the 3000 series are about the same: Boot failure, mid-boot; or radio works fine and then doesn't power down- forever(until you take the battery off); the third is more related to customer handling, side connector failures, either the accessory connector has it's little side piece of the latch boogered, or someone bumped the contacts on the flex hard enough to damage the label which is now partially covering one of the contact surfaces causing the accessory to not work. Physical inspection catches the last defect, the first two, either a hammer or the depot is the only fix.

I've had one of these since January. Bought it new from a Moto dealer. So far a good radio. I'm wondering how soon after delivery these have been showing the power on or off failure. Any information would be appreciated. Thankful for the 2 year warranty if this turns out to be a "turkey"
