Organizing Radio ID's, Talk Group ID's in a Cap+ System - Keeping it all straight!

Would anyone mind attaching an excel spreadsheet or matrix or some sort of example document that they use/maintain to keep track of all of all their different ID's?

Im really struggling with how to track via a spreadsheet/document a full list of radio ID's, but also organizing a way to see that: (example) radio ID's 10500, 10501, and 10502 have access to groups 26, and 27, but not 30.

Kind regards.

Provided you don't have a ton of talkgroups a simple spreadsheet should do it... Radio ID's down the left, Groups across the top. Then a simple checkbox across the row for each group a particular radio has access too.

I use a shared Google Spreadsheet that our partners can keep updated. We don't have an extensive talkgroup system, so we don't have to mess with that much. I would also be interested in other examples so I can improve our spreadsheet.

Thank you for sharing the spreadsheet. I removed the link because it contains some personal contact information for public safety agencies. If you'd like, feel free to re-post a "sanitized" version without that information.

I didn't get a chance to see your spreadsheet before it was removed, so if you'd like to repost it without the classified stuff Id be grateful.

I would recommend also playing with radio management. Even if you have no plans on implementing OTAP it is still a useful tool for keeping up with all your subs, codeplugs, privacy keys ext. all in one place. I created a group inside RM for each customer so I could simply tab to one customer and see every radio in their inventory. You can set it up where everything is on one box or your database and codeplugs are on a server and you can access it on any client on your network. I also know OTAP gets a bad reputation and for the most part it really deservs it, but for small stuff like customers who insist on alising and then insist on changing contact list about once a minute it works pretty well on cap+ and can save you a truck roll. Hope this helps!

While I like RM for what it does, it will not help the OP.

It will not produce a where used report for contacts, freqs, or other relational data as the data is still in a Code Plug / Template and not in the database.

Additionally, what little is in the database is locked down so tight it's really only accessible if you export a subset of it to CSV and read it back into another tool.

But it's also a Release 1 so maybe it will work better in the future.

I use a spreadsheet for this task. Building the basic sheet may take some time, but once you have the template, it can be expanded without any trouble. Formulas and macros are your friends, in this instance.
