As a test, I built a scan list with one analog channel and six talk groups on a local system. After an hour of scanning with voice announcement on, my radio did not reboot. Therefore, the bug is not universal or there is some combination of settings that causes it to appear.

I usually use an auto scan channel. Scanlist is almost full with 15 members. The members are:

1 - analog simplex
1 - digital simplex
8 - DMR conventional repeater slots w/ rx groups
4 - analog repeaters
1 - selected channel

No priority channels are set.

I get no reboots.

The members of my scanlist are :

7 - analog simplex
3 - DMR conventional repeater slots w/ rx groups
5 - analog repeaters

and I am getting random reboots approx. every 30 minutes.

Sounds like we need to do a recovery with the new firmware and put some basic channels into one zone and analyze the results.

FWIW, the APX had the same problem with earlier versions of firmware.

If you had any P25 trunking systems in your scanlist that were out of range, the radio would reboot.

I found it by stripping everything out of my scanlist and adding back channels one at a time.

I would suggest doing the same. If no particular type of channel seems to trigger it, then try a fresh codeplug adding the same channels back one at a time.

For what it's worth, I have an XPR5550 with developmental firmware and it does the same thing. Reboots randomly when scanning. P sure it's only scanning analog channels, might have 1 digital channel in the list. I don't need it for scanning so I just turn scan off

Just a little update on the reboot issue: I did email two people at Motorola who are involved with MOTOTRBO product support/development. I have not received a reply. It's entirely possible they haven't caught up from the holiday break yet.

If anyone else files a bug report with Moto, please post those details to this thread. Thanks.

Something interesting to note, both of my radios that had the problem with rebooting seemed to have been corrected with a read and rewrite.

A new "feature" since upgrading I have noticed that may warrant a new thread started since this relates to scan is if I power up my SL7550 while in the charging cradle or with a USB charger plugged in I do not get any audio out of the radio. IF the radio is removed from charge, powered on and then placed on charge the problem does not present itself.

here in the UK - i noticed my UHF DM4600 randomly rebooting during mixed mode scan, also i noticed erratic flashing of the green RX led occasionally too. Also another local has random reboots on his DP4601 during mixed mode scan. all firmware 2.4. not tested my VHF DM4600 yet, but i will ask my friends if their 2.4 fw DP4801 / DM4600 are crashing in mixed mode scan :(

I've been rocking 2.4 for about a week now. I left the radio on scan (analog) all night the other day - it didn't reboot. Did the same thing last night on a bunch of digital channels, and no reboot.

Yes, we have had this happen. I ran through several tests, including cloning the code plug that was rebooting into another 7550, and it did not reboot.

I finally made it stop happening after rebuilding the code plug from one of the samples that is included with CPS the issue went away. It sucks, but it may be what is needed.

Is it possible the code plugs can become corrupted easier with 2.4?

I will try that today..

It's getting to the point where one has to wonder if Motorola has a firmware beta-testing team -- and if not, I know of a great group who would be very good at aggressively testing it and reporting back.

i'm sat behind the door now, waiting for the first cheque to arrive ..

I have the REBOOT problem too, but I found that if to disable the Audio Ambience to "Default" and don't set to "Loud". The problem will be solve. I already tested three days ago. That's real and sure the firmware R2.4 have the bug for this issues.

This is excellent information!

My mobile and portable are both set to LOUD, as are the users who have complained about the issue. I will pass this along and test with default settings.

Dear ALL,

Could anyone share the test result with my proposed. I did't found reboots on scan mode when the Audio Ambience set to "Default".
Please comment. Thanks!

Hi, since setting audio ambience back to default, I have not experienced any reboots either.

I did forward your post to Motorola, but they did not bother replying to confirm any of it. I get the impression they do not care for this website very much.

I can confirm this. Both my 7550 and 5550 did it with loud settings but not the normal setting.

I am going to open a case on Monday. I have a customer asking about the loud setting who has a mixed scan list.
