Problem updating XPR4550 VHF to R01.12.15

Never had an issue updating this XPR4550 but today tried updating to R01.12.15 from R01.12.11 using CPS 11.5. The update failed in the middle somewhere and left the radio in FlashZap Bootloader mode:

Tried "Recover" in CPS to no avail - get the following error:

Error #1687
Unable to detect applicable devices. Check to see if a compatible programming cable is used.

Also tried to Read - no communication with the radio seems possible in this state.

Programming cable is fine...use it all the time and was using it fine just prior to the attempted firmware update.

Any ideas? This radio is out of warranty so not going to spend the $$$ to send it back to be "fixed" for something that should have worked and has always worked.

Is this radio really bricked?

I should be able to unbrick it and restore the previous version of firmware. Do you have the tuning file backed up?

I only have the codeplug backed up...no tuning file.

I can restore it to working order, but you will need your radio retuned. I can't do that. Without your tuning file, all values will be defaulted.

If you have a MOTOTRBO CPS subscription, you install MOTOTRBO Tuner, which is part of the software suite. The current version is 11.5.
