Sure, there's a fix...
Seems like one or more of the following... a bad/worn button contact, defective flex connector, or defective concentric switch depending on how the radio is programmed.
To help determine which button is screwed up, use the following procedure.
Put the radio into service mode, then perform a control head test...
- Turn the radio off, then back on.
- Press the lower side button five times.
- The radio will display various pieces of information and stop on RF TEST.
- Press the top side button. The radio will display CH TEST.
- Press the top orange button. The radio is in CH TEST mode.
Pressing and releasing buttons will display the button number and its status (1 or 0, on or off).
Squeeze the radio as you described above without pressing any buttons. This action should activate a button press and a number should display on the screen. The following numbers correspond to certain buttons:
98 - side, bottom button
97 - side, middle button
1 - PTT button
96 - side, top button
3 - top, orange button
etc etc...
