Radio Enable/Disable

I was looking for information from someone who has experience with developing apps for Motortbo.

Using a donor radio, can we send a command through the radio to enable or disable a radio. Basically replicating doing it from manual dialling on keypad radios.

The vision is, we have an app which is attached to RFID scanner (and RFID volume knobs) which scans the radio RFID and a users ID card and sends the enable or disable command over the air to the target radio, and the users name is attached to the database in the application for record keeping.

Does anyone have any experience or could point me in the right direction.

Yes, this can be done and everything you mention is doable, in fact if you have a large enough project ($$s) you might / maybe be able to get MSI to enable the ability to set the Talker Alias via a GOB API and source the information based on the card. Back in 2014 this was the functionality they wrote up in RFID Journal.

You need the RFID scanner, and you need either a bar code scanner, or RFID enabled personnel badges / Ids,. But since most badges today use bar code, magnetic strip or QR Codes you will need to do some research to locate what you need. By the way I believe the Knobs are passive so you should try and use passive tags as well.

The downside to your plan is while many members of the ADP program (Us included) have the license to do Stun & UN-Stun over the air, it is part of the licensed tool kit, so you need a partner to build it for you if you absolutely need that as well. Maybe just having a good database of who has which device would be enough to start ?

PM me contact data if you want to discuss this more --
