To make sure we aren't on different sides of the road, I'm referring to attaching a standard CH, not a remote one. Maybe even trying a 1500 head? Since you're money deep, start with the basics and go from there. I haven't seen that approach posted, but maybe I missed it.

Yep, I've tried attaching an O5 directly to the brick (two different O5's actually), and I've tried a remote mount O5 on a CHIB and I've tried an O3 HHCH (which is what I want to end up with on this radio), none of the above would sync with the radio.

EDIT: I don't have an M-series CH either and I don't think one would work anyway, I think I'd get the "CH Mismatch" error if I tried?

M5 and O5 heads are the same electronically, it won't make a difference.

Ah okay, I think I was thinking of an XTL2500 which I think uses an M5... not sure which CH the 1500's use?

Either way I don't have one and don't want to waste even more money trying something that probably won't work?

I think I'll throw that remote mount XTL back in the box under the stairs, if I happen to find a W-Series TIB I'll drag it back out but I'm over it for now... I still need to find a way to sync a CH with the second (dash mount) radio though?

Did any of you have luck with this issue? Seems I am having a similar (not completely the same) issue.

No both of these XTL's are still 'headless', I haven't had the time to get back into this issue lately, plus I need to buy a few more bits 'n pieces to experiment further.

I read about your problem in the other thread/s, providing you didn't tick the dreaded "Control Head Required For Power Up" option you should still be able to read/write the brick via the J2 connector on the rear (assuming it's not a high-power radio) and correct the codeplug issue, you shouldn't need to sync the CH at all?

Would you happen to have the pin out for making a J2 rear connector to a DB9 ?

I did notice that there is 2 Tibs for the XTL one would let the radio power up to be read the other did not. The one that let it power up was HLN1472A I forgot to write down the number that doesn't they are both work with the control head as normal.

I'm having pretty much the same issue, but with a 2500. Tried a O5 and M5 head in dash config. Tried O3 on the TIB. All coming up with Maint Mode - Remote Device. Cant read the radio since I have to disconnect the ignition sense/speaker connection from the rear connector, shutting the radio down. Unfortunately, I don't have any other resources to test with.

The last post in this thread is 8 MONTHS old, and the thread is over a year old. Please start a new thread and detail the following items so we can help you with your problem:

Original radio configuration as you know it.
High power/mid power?
2500 ONLY supports M5 head. O3 head ONLY if correct TIB and if configured that way (doubtful).
If remote TIB, is it the GCAI TIB or the W5/7/9 style?
What programming cables do you have available?
What version of Astro25 Mobile do you have available to work with?
If remote, which TIB/Brick flex do you have?
Do you HAVE a W5/7/9 cable/head combo by chance?

Thanks in advance for the help. I will elaborate on the details tomorrow, pending the Monday work load. Thank you for capitalizing the word months. When I read a message board or email conversation with no resolution or conclusion to the original issue, I firmly believe that starting a new thread is more annoying to most readers than solving a case that is possibly affecting a large number of people in one consolidated thread, even if it's 3 years long. Why start 5 threads on the same subject with no resolution?

I may or may not be trying to be a wise-ass, but I do sincerely appreciate any help.

Cheers,

Dan
