Hello,
I have a few quick questions regarding the RMN5127C I'm using on my XPR5550.

1. Can I reduce the intensity of the green light? At night, it's a bit too bright. A "dim" feature like the one for the radio's display would be nice. Maybe a day/night mode ...
2. Can I change it to red? (I've seen the keypad turning red briefly sometimes, when I turn the radio ON. And this leads to my next question ...)
3. I'd like to know why/when the keypad light turns red?

Thank you,
C.

If it's similar to the APX 7000, the keypad turns red with low battery. In the APX it also turns yellow when paged or during emergency RX as does the top display backlight.

On my APX6500 with O2 head, when impress the dim button on the head, it dims the radio display and the intensity of the key lights on the RMN5127 mic simultaneously. Each press of the button dims the radio head light by one step down but every other press dims the mic intensity by one level down. Is there a light dim button in the XPR5550?

I've got the same mic on an XPR5500 - it's absolute Motorola engineering brilliance. It will turn red when you have the display brightness all the way up on Daylight Mode, otherwise it's green and it will turn green when you have the brightness all the way up in Night Time mode. Or something like that. I stopped paying attention when I realized that it really makes zero sense how Moto has that designed.

Play around with the day/night and brightness and it'll change. No, there's no APX-like options to have it do anything else on emergency or private call...

This is embarrassing ...
I've had this radios for 3 years or so, I've used it every day and I didn't realise that the microphone keypad light changes intensity (and colour) in sync with the display.

My only objection would be regarding the "night" mode: the microphone light should turn red on the minimum intensity setting. My 2 cents.

Thank you!
