THREE THUMBS UP for this little box. FINALLY someone has done a gateway right. Audio is STUPENDOUS. Very close to my 96k Behringer box I used to stream out. Transmits well, really easy setup. The box is $300 and the apx cable is $125, he will give you a first responder discount also. Highly recommended.

This is the guy who is making the "critical rf" gateway advertised on the zello site. Same box...

I asked about a multiple radio gateway. He's done custom stuff before but has found it not profitable. He says you can run up to 4 of these units on one laptop simultaneously. I have 24 hours into this and still very impressed. The audio sounds great on streaming. It's punchy and pretty loud on the iphone 7. This morning I dug into the admin panel some and found I had a +.7db amplifier setup on the transmit audio. I reset to 0db and a radio test said the zello was indistinguishable from a regular apx radio.

Does it actually have a USB A connector on the unit, and uses a USB A to USB A cable to connect to the host computer? That doesn't make me very confident in the hardware as using a USB host connector on a USB device is a big no-no...

Yes is usb A type cable.

Just a big thanks for recommending this gateway. Set one up over the weekend for my department and I will second the audio is phenomenal after just a bit of level setting. The best part of the whole thing is it's treated as a standard USB audio device so it can handle multiple programs consuming the audio output, now feeding zello and a two-tone paging monitor for recording. Major +1 on the recommendation of this gateway.

GLAD I was able to help! Glad you like it also. This guy has a goldmine compared to all the other stuff out there. My zello feed has been issue free since install. I constantly get compliments on how it sounds. I have 22 users on mine now. About 12 of them are regular users. Others log on during fires.
