I have an SL300 which sometimes displays "BOOT" at power up. I have to remove the battery and then power up again in order to enable normal operation.

Does anybody know what is causing the "BOOT" message. Maybe its due to me pressing the power on button for too long? I'm never sure how long you are meant to press the power button. A quick press does not work.

Any ideas?

Thanks

The SL300 doesn't require a long press to power on, but it does to power off. I recently got rid of my SL300, so I can't test if a long press as power on causes the BOOT message. Just try a short press at power on and see if you still get the message.

Your radio is going into FlashZap bootloader mode. The normal way to enter it is to hold PTT while powering on. The only way to exit is to remove the battery.

If you are not mashing the PTT button, then the switch may be defective, perhaps? If the PTT switch line is physically OK, then the firmware may be corrupt - you might need to try upgrading firmware or use the "Recover Radio" function.
