So I am looking for some ideas --

The SLR-5700 is 14" deep and comes with two rack ears. An on the rear two what look like strain relief points that something might be attached to --

If I place this unit in a Pelican or SKB case the rear is likely to get bounced around in Fedex / UPS / TSA and from experience I can tell you the Ears do not hold the unit in place.

I did find an adjustable rail that I can probably drill and utilize a second anchor point. https://www.cablesandkits.com/gruber-19-23-30-rack-mount-adjustable-rails-black-p-2721.html

But I wanted to see if anyone here had found any better ways to mount / anchor the repeater for transportable use-

TIA --

Maybe a 4 point rack shelf? rotate ears down then flip them, so you would have to attach them to the shelf first then the slr would sit on top of them. Then secure those wings you have circled to the shelf?

If thats too unclear i can get my crayons out.

No, I actually though of that, but a full 4 point 24" shelf adds more weight to the case than I want. Remember I said this is transportable unit, meaning pay by the pound for it to be shipped anywhere -

That's why I was looking at those adjustable rails verses a shelf.

Anyone know what those rear guides / ears are actually supposed to be for ? They are not labeled in anything I have looked at so far.

They most likely are for the wall mount that's available.

Interesting, I had not seen a wall mount option, but that actually does make sense, it looks like two wood screws could easily be placed there --

I actually though of using it as a pop-rivet point to the suggested four post shelf, but ruled that out as I said earlier due to overall shipping weight.

Hard to tell exactly from your photo, but they look to me like anchor points for a cable management arm, which is why they are situated behind the device and not on the outside where the rails would go.

No one has a picture up online but the part # for the wall mount is PMLE5031 I think those two holes secure the rear of the chassis to the bottom of the wall mount bracket.

That's interesting.. that would be a first for me, every 19" rack wall mount ive ever seen has just let the rear of the device hang, even for 4U servers, such as this:

Those holes appear to not be flush exactly with the bottom of the device, i guess maybe the PMLE5031 could possibly have divets coming out of the mount to meet flush with the holes, otherwise the bolts would have to go through the wall, but the holes look tremendously large for that kind of application.

OP, when you say a pelican case, is this one of those rugged military style cases with a 3U+ rack inside? I think your sliding rail idea may be the way to go, in looking at this photo of the SLR-5700 it looks like it is designed to allow the ears to be center mounted.

Even if your Pelican doesn't have a center mount capable rack, you could probably tap some holes in the sliding rail to line up with those holes and you'd be in business. Could impede the sliding ability though but it doesn't sound like you are after that feature anyways.

So,

Yes, a Pelican Super-V 4RU case -- http://www.pelican.com/us/en/product/rack-mount-hard-cases/super-v/4u/super-v-series-4u/

Right now it's looking like a custom modified 1RU Slide rail.

An I am thinking the same thing as far as modifying a rail or shelf. The second set of holes for the Rack ears are so that you can mid mount it in a relay rack I assume.

While google can find a number of sites with the PMLE5031 part, no one seems to have a photo / details for it -
