Is there a difference between the regular Spectra 25 pin control head cable and those used by the Astro Spectra/ Astro Spectra Plus control heads and drawers.? Will a regular Spectra control head cable work on a Astro or Astro Spectra Plus ? I know the control heads are different.

Thank's

Randy

So here's the deal:

I have a Astro Spectra Plus VHF 110 watt remote mount... The radio works fine with no issues until I plug the programming cable into the drawer. The display goes out as it is supposed to but then displays FL 01/90 and will not communicate with the CPS software. Upon unplugging the program cable the radio re-boots and all is well once again. I programmed this on the bench without issue prior to installing in a vehicle. This is an upgrade from a regular Spectra to an Astro Spectra Plus. The only difference is I used a different control head to drawer cable that was already installed in the vehicle that was on the regular VHF Spectra, not the cable I used when programming on the bench.... Is the cable the issue ??

Any Idea ???

Hmm. The Astro Spectra Plus is a cranky bastard. I have noticed a lot of quirks with them compared to regular Astro Spectras, they are very easy to permanently brick when firmware upgrading, as careful and knowledgeable as I am, I have still managed to brick one or two in my day. It's possible something in the cable is conflicting; to troubleshoot take back to the bench cable and see if the problem goes away. If it does you have isolated the problem, i.e. the cable.

You have to unplug the microphone. If you have a siren connected you will need to disconnect that too. AS+ radios go into programming mode by pulling the Mic Hi+ line low and if anything else is riding on the mic bus it throws it out of whack. BTDT.
