Have a user with a peculiar problem...

Their XTL1500 base station can only use one site on our P25 system (coverage wise, that's all it sees) and it has a marginal signal at best, never better than a 50 RSSI. They are having a problem with it roaming off to another site and showing a 0 RSSI, but never pops an OUT OF RANGE alarm or anything. Mash the RSSI button and it'll go back to where it belongs.

Any ideas? We've firmware-upgraded the radio and ran it through autotune on our Aeroflex and it all checked out OK before hand but the problem persists. I've suggested just disabling SmartZone and only giving it the control channels for the only site it can really use, but they don't want to do that unless absolutely necessary.

Why not set up a preferred site rule? You can do this in the trunking personality. You can also have it never affiliate to the neighboring site with 0 RSSI.

Good idea; we never use the preferred sites so I didn't think of it.
