Tagless Radio and Flat Rate Repair

Are there any issues with sending a tagless ABC radio to the depot for a flat rate repair? I have an XTL5000 with an FL01-90 I can get rid of.

It can be usual TIB/CHIP generation mismatch issue (and no communications between drawer and head as result). If YES, it can be solved for $40-150 depends of current parts availability on eBay. Much cheaper than flat rate repair.
