Hi guys!

Has anyone come across rebadged TAIT radios to EADS / Cassidian (European mfg. of TETRA equipment)? E.g. TB9100 was rebadged to TB5000 / TB5000i?

Radios looks the same, and even packaging, manuals, etc. branded as TAIT. FCC IDs belongs to Tait Limited - CAS (New Zealand). And all looks like EADS actually did nothing other than placing customized order.

Also interesting, that model numbering differs. TAIT uses long numbers, like this: TB9115FFHX0000YZ00 when EADS numbers are shorter and looks like these: TBA40H1-PB00.

Particular question:
  1. Will regular TAIT CSS read them?
  2. Is there any other differences, like hardware ones?
  3. Looks like TBA40H1-PB00 is Base Station Trunking Reciter (trunking Receiver/Exciter). Can it be switched to the regular TB9100 Digital Base Station (TB9100 Single)?
    1. How this switching is done? Firmware change? Model number change? Or just CSS setting?
Any information will be appreciated.

I saw a bunch of repeaters that were Tait rebadged as EADS.

Don’t know much more about them then that. They were used for a UHF public safety system.

We definitely need some TAIT guru here. Because I am pretty sure that those are usual TAIT radios.

And the most important question now is 9100 role changing. I am curious because CSS offers only 3 option: Base Station, P25 Console Gateway and TAG. I see no mentions about Recited, etc.

In case of Motorola Quantar special firmware is needed - trunked vs conventional.

I have a TB5000 tait repeater with EADS rebranding. Other than difference visually it's just a regular TB9100. Works with standard cps and runs standard TB9100 firmware. Currently running it in p25 conventional mode.

Thanks for your reply.

1. Could you please clarify, what was your TAIT repeater initially, conventional or trunking reciter? It does matter.
2. Do you have its model number, like TB9115FFHX0000YZ00? Just to understand it's factory-programmed role.

Yes model number is
TB9135-B3ME-0000-J4AA-10

Pretty sure all I did was default the codeplug and put in my frequencies.

The TB9100, like all modern Tait products, requires SFE keys to enable various features. Examples are as follows

TBAS062 SFE Key - Simulcast Enable (TB91/94)
TBAS063 SFE Key - Failsoft for P25 Trunking (TB91/94)
TBAS067 SFE Key - Transceiver Networking (TB91/94)
TBAS083 SFE Key - 20/25kHz Unrestricted Wideband
TBAS050-R0 SFE Key - P25 Common Air Interface (CAI) Rx Only (TB91/94)
TBAS051-R0 SFE Key - Analog Line Rx
TBAS054-R0 SFE Key - MDC1200 Signalling on Analog Line Rx Only (TB91)
TBAS056-R0 SFE Key - P25 Trunking Operation Rx Only

Thanks. Your device is conventional BS, and there are no question about it's role. Just program and run. But I come across trunking exciter.

Of course they exist! But their existence doesn't change anything and doesn't help any. Because I come across with trunking Exciter. And from what I know from Mot Quantar and G8K gear, they run different firmware (conventional vs trunking). And trunking features doesn't matter in conventional mode. I am not sure that trunking Exciter can be just switched to BS, because there are no such role as Exciter in conventional CSS. This is why I curious.
