I can't remember this at all.

If you were to monitor a P25 phase 1 trunking system, but did it with a radio in conventional digital mode, just scanning the system channels, would the talkgroup IDs be the same as if the system were just using talkgroups on conventional channels?

I mean, would a digital talkgroup have a different talkgroup ID number if it was P25 trunked vs. P25 conventional?

Let's say that by scanning it in conventional mode, a given talkgroup came up with an ID of 123. If you were listening in on that same talkgroup with a fully authorized radio programmed on that system, would it report as ID 123 also?

Yes it will be the same, but it will show RID not TGid's.

Too bad. I was hoping that it would display talkgroup IDs and then I'd have essentially the same functionality as if scanning in trunked mode.

I absolutely refuse to use a moto radio to scan a military or federal system in trunked mode. That's not a risk I would ever be willing to take.

NO the TG ID can be assigned on a personality basis. it is entirly possible that the 2 will be diffeerent. A local system near here uses conventional TG ids of 0-2F for conventional and trunked ids of 301-308 and 401 - 4xx in trunking.

Another reason the TG id is not displayed in trunking is because of patched TGs. If you want to see what TG are in use etc I recommend using Unitriunker or even a regular trunked scanner.
