No, and No. First, if you purchased the CPS from Motorola, you didn't get the "rights" to it. You only "rented" it from them, more or less. You paid for the rights to USE it only. Depending on the exact legal language in the agreement you executed, you probably are just licensed to use a copy but they still own it.

Also, just buying a copy is does not even give you the right to use it, you have to sign and agree to a large, draconian legal agreement with them in order for you to be able to legally use it. Most people do not do this, so they really technically aren't "legal" in their use of it, even though they paid for it.

Finally, you can not buy it "LEGEALY" for $35.00. They are pirated copies and, and are very illegal. Even if they were legit copies for 1/10 the sale price of the software, by not signing the agreement, you still could not use it "legally".

Looking at Mototrbo CPS, a three year subscription works out to five bucks a month, if you take the download only option. If I can afford the radio, I should be able to afford the software. Sooner or later, some sort of malicious code is going to find its way into pirated software. By the time everyone figures out what's happening, there will be a lot of bricked radios. Also a lot of whining. OEM for me please.

If I worked in Motorola's IP department, that's exactly the route I'd take. Tweak some copies of APX Depot and whatever current flavor of CPS to look great but nuke the radio, release it into the wild...and wait for the magic to happen. :D

No, you could not have purchased the software legally for $35.00. That's a stupid statement to make (and learn how to spell "legally" will you?).

I think this thread has run its course.

Posting links to dubious or fraudulent eBay auctions can be interesting but it also helps the seller by drawing attention to his sale. It's probably better to use the eBay provided reporting tools.
