I have been setting device UDP ports different for peers for over a year, based on input from one of the Trbo design engineers and additional study we did using several network analysis tools with close support from a developer. I have not had any problems since then. I thought they would have addressed this when this first popped up in 2.2.

UDP ports MUST be unique across master and peers from everything I've heard, seen, and touched. I have never seen anything suggesting/recommending to NOT increment them, nor have I come across any fully functional systems with all ports @ 50000.

Sometimes wireshark and other analysis does wonders when even manufacturer documentation is poor, incomplete, or incorrect.

So I'm a bit lost. If you set the master repeater master udp port to 50000 and the udp port to 50001 this is correct?

I would now assume when you program a peer, the master udp port will be 50000. What would you make the peer, 50001? Is this the same with all peers?

Is the above true for LCP, CP, and IPSC?

We run a IPSC system. What are the symptoms if all the peer UDP ports are the same? We are still running an older firmware version for all the repeaters but are about to undergo an upgrade. Do we need to make the UDP port unique for all the peers while we're at it?

You can get away with all the port numbers the same as long as all the repeaters are on the same subnet. As soon as the packets have to go across a Router then things can go astray. The symptoms are mostly missed calls though there could be other effects which I haven't thought of yet.

We found in the repeaters under the link establishment i had all repeaters with the same UDP port, which is how all the documentation shows to set it up, but he says that each repeater needs to know the master udp port under link establishment and all other peers need a seperate udp port

As the late Fred Dibnah would say, "Ahh, there's ya problem there". There might be other causes but this would explain what you're seeing very well.
