Anyone happen to have a service manual for the EFwood Viking head showing the mic pinout? It's a different 12-pin connector than the Lightning head. Not sure if the pinout is the same...

Thanks!

To my knowledge they are the same pinouts. I know the RF-guys don't have a separate cable for lightning and kenwood VM but I have never tried to program one of the kenwoods either. The 5 heads I have are all EFJ. I will reach out to a buddy of mine that owns both and see if he knows of any difference in the two.

Direct from my buddies mouth lol. Correct. It is a different connector. If you're trying to make a programming cable, one doesn't exist. Vikings program via direct USB. If you're trying to use a Viking head on a 5300ES, you need the special firmware and PCC to do it, and you'll have to program it with a regular Lightning or standard head, then switch it over after programming.

All of the vikings we have had all had a micro USB dongle on the rear accessory connector. A standard cell phone charger cable was all that was required to program it.

Thanks for your replies. Regarding programming, that's my understanding too, that all the new radios using the Armada software use the micro-USB cable/port.

I was hoping to verify the KVL pinout, since I think non-over the air keyloading can still be done the 'old-fashioned way' with a Moto KVL using the mic port, at least Efwood seems to have a cable for that.
