I see this referenced on a lot of Kenson/EFwood products.

What is it?

I'm pretty sure it's their own "way" to say APCO-16 compliant protocol...

Here's what I have in my doc :
"Effective January 1, 2019 EFJohnson will no longer be marketing Motorola’s SmartNet®/SmartZone® trunking protocol. SmartNet® and SmartZone® are registered trademarks of Motorola Solutions. EFJohnson will be marketing its own brand, Viking16 trunking protocol"

It's to provide integration with legacy trunking systems like Smartzone.

Gotcha. That's what I figured, thanks for the confirmation.
