Hey guys, I have scoured the internet and forums etc and I cant find a definitive answer.
I have 3 XG-100M's with remote mount CH100's, several with remote mount CH721 scans. I also have several front mount CH721 scan heads. I'm trying to find a conversion kit to convert the front mount 721 control heads into a remote mount control head. I've found a part number for the M7300 that accomplishes what I want to do: KT-014494-001
This kit wouldn't be compatible with the XG100M would it? The CH721 scans I have were taken off XG-100M's so the control head and transceiver should be compatible with each other.
I cant for the life of me find a conversion kit for the XG100M that isn't over $1000. It seams the only kits available come with the control heads as well. All I need is the back housing adapter that bolts to the control head, the blank plastic face plate to cover the front of the transceiver, o-ring and ribbon cable adapters.

I'm trying to replace the remote mount CH100's with converted front mount CH721's. Installing these in several different vehicles and I want them all to be the same form factor, install, and programming. I have no need for the full functionality of the CH100's. The 721 scans will be plenty for my application.
Thanks in advance guys!

I have a remote mount 100M/721 sitting on my desk at home right now. I'll check the #s on it after work.

I have used M7300 remote heads on my XG100Ms without any problems. If you convert a control head with hardware, you also have to change the the software in the head too. There is a procedure to change it from dash to remote or remote to dash.

Yes the kit you listed will work fine for your conversion.

You are better off just finding surplus remote 721 heads. The kit to convert is too expensive. You can swap them betwen the 100M and M7300 with no issue. But with the kit price and the required serial terminal hacking, it's more trouble than it's worth. There are remote heads on ebay right now for cheap. Also I could use a remote ch100. PM if you want to sell a couple.

Completely agree, and I thought about that solution as well, and was about to post something similar, but then I realized two things, the OP just said "several" as far as the number of conversions he's doing. How many is "several"? 2, 4, 30? This brought me to the conclusion that he still would have to obtain the blank coverplates for all the converted radios as well, and that could be a real PITA too.

I’m only converting 5 of the radios. That’s how many vehicles I have to upfit. Sorry for the bit of confusion, the part number for the kit I listed comes with blank cover plates. At least I’m almost certain. I found some kits from new London tech but I also have another source for them that I’m waiting on. I’m just a little leery buying more control heads with an unknown history from eBay. Especially since reading about all the issues with mismatching firmwares locking them up. I may already have my hands full trying to get these to work much less getting 7300 control heads on eBay matched up to work with the XG-100’s. Everything I’m seeing they are interchangeable however

The front panel blank is identical to the M7100/M7200. It's cheaper to buy junker radios and harvest the front panel blank than to order the Harris kit. I've converted many XG1000 to remote mount this way.
