Well, I found another "added" feature in the Gen 1 trbo firmware.

After updating all the Gen 1 Trbo radios kicking around to R01.12.17, I noticed that sometimes the TPT tone would be transmitted. Oddly enough, it is only heard when the TG hang time has not expired.

I call it the RX alert tone.

That's a normal feature of the radio.

It's always been there and there's a checkbox to turn it off under each digital contact.

From CPS:
Call Receive Tone (Digital Call)
This alert tone sounds on the receiving radio prior to unmuting during a Private Call, Group Call, or All System Call. This is to notify the user that the radio is unmuting. This feature is set on a per-call basis.

Notes
The Disable All Tones feature must be disabled.

This feature is supported in Digital mode only.

I was not aware that the tone was an option. However, upon closer examination, the call received tone is not enabled for that talkgroup. The only way to eliminate the Call Receive tone is enabling "Disable all tones" on a radio wide basis.
