XPR 6580 3600 Baud Trunking on NPSPAC Freqs?

Hi, I am curious if anyone has heard of a mod or workaround to permit a Mototrbo XPR 6580 (or the Canada IS version) onto a SmartNet trunking system, operating on NPSPAC frequencies? Many years ago I was able to put a MTX 8000 on a SmartNet system by hacking code with Hex editor. Not sure if something similar exists today. Or I could just buy an APX radio.......:)

Thanks for reading!

The "Canada Full Frequency Range" entitlement will do this. It should open up the Canadian splinter band plans, as well as NPSPAC frequencies above 866. You will likely have to prove that the radio is being used in Canada to get this free entitlement.

Cheers,
SD.

The rebanded NPSPAC though is the now the lower part of the 800 spectrum (851-854) and is no longer 866-869 so I don't know if the Canadian entitlement will help him. I tested with a friend of mine, who is a system admin of an 800 TRS, with an XPR on his rebanded NPSPAC system. If I remember correctly the radio had issues following the non-splinter frequencies and the radio muted when it was told to go there.

I used the Canadian EID to program the NPSPAC 851-854, as well as the 866-869 freq's on my XPR6580, 7580, & 6380 radios. Works perfectly. GARY

But how do you know? Do you have access to Zone Watch to know that every channel assigned by the system is being received by the radio?
If you don't you can only assume that it is tracking correctly.

You are right, but all I know is when I put the 6580 next to my XTS3000, both set to the same TG [NR1A] they both hear the same thing. Neither radio hears something the other does not. GARY

Then you can only assume that either it is hasn't landed on a non-splinter NPSPAC channel or the system you are monitoring have any at all. If it doesn't have any the conversation is moot.

I'm not saying that it doesn't work correctly for you, but a radio without the Canadian EID doesn't track US NPSPAC trunking correctly and I have seen it occur in real time with Zone Watch and knowing the frequency types. This adds to the reason why the US marketed radios do not have a 4 KHz modulation option and wasn't certificated for NPSPAC use to try to keep public safety from having a legal "low tier" non-P25 option.

But I do have the Canadian EID even though I live in Florida. I did mention that in post # 4. I also have the 5 NPSPAC freq's in my radio. GARY

Is the EID for the radio or the CPS?

Does anyone have the p/n for the NPSPAC CPS EID? I searched my Canadian MOL account for HKVN4* and the results returned are not inclusive of this EID.

Can't seem to find anything on Google, either.

Any Moto dealer in Canada should be able to get it for you. That's where I got mine. GARY
