Hi Everyone,
I just picked up an XPR 7550 and its got a few glitches that I'm concerned about.

1st Question: The monitor button will only work on analog frequencies I can transmit on not on receive only. What am I doing wrong or is this radio just like that...

2nd Question: For some reason the radio keeps stopping on my local PD channel that's second priority because its receiving transmission, but just the MDC ID's being displayed not actual voice. What confuses me is that none of my other radios did this. It would just skip over it because it was the wrong PL. It's bugging me beyond belief because its cutoff multiple transmissions...

3rd Question: Does anyone know why if quick call is setup to receive tones that you have to acknowledge the page to receive voice. Why doesn't it just receive the page and alert without affecting if the voice comes through? I juat want to be alerted for the page, but also be able to listen to the regular traffic on the channel. My department puts out other alerts and just simple voice. I don't want it to be silent till it gets a page.

4th and final Question: Is it all possible to hear the full MDC chirp and still get the I'd to display on the screen? I find I can't follow the conversations and the MDC mute cuts off parts of transmissions because certain officials don't know to wait before they start talking...

I had posted this or radio reference... And want more of a professional opinion. Any help would be extremely appreciated! Thank you! [emoji4]

I suspect any limitation on monitoring an RX only frequency is because Motorola decided that needing to monitor is directly related to your need to transmit... if you can't transmit they probably figure you don't need to monitor.

For your scanned channel, what are you unmute/mute rules on the personality? What is the scan PL type you have set on the list?

For your MDC system, sounds like you have it sell for call alert instead of call alert with voice? Call alerts are designed to let someone know you are calling them. You start talking when they reply back to your call alert.

Sure you can hear the whole MDC chirp if you want to. Set the auto mute duration in the DOS tab to 0 milliseconds.

1st: The monitor bug/feature is the dumbest thing ever...

2nd: I have priority and non priority channel set.

3rd: It is set as call w/voice

4th: Alright great! It was chopping off transmissions and I could't hear my dispatcher...

For #1, try selecting "Unlink Monitor" on the general settings.

#2: There is an option somewhere in the MDC settings that you can click to only allow MDC decode with the correct tone squelch setting. That is if I understood your questions correctly.
