If I'm reading the sale glossy for this mic it says the PMMN4097 mic is required? Why if the radio has the built in Bluetooth option?

2 locals tried that package, & the TX audio was absolutely HORRIBLE. 1 XPR4550, & 5550. Both with newest FW. Imagine dragging your fingernails across a blackboard. That's how horrible it was to listen to them. Both users gave them back. I wouldn't use them if I was paid $10 to take them. Don't waste your $. GARY

Even with the latest firmware audio enhancements? I have a wireless pacific version of the above...suppose I should get that set up instead.

The guy with the 4550 had FW 1.12.15, so no audio enhancement FW. The guy with the 5550 did have audio enhancement FW. The 4550 guy bought the wireless kit brand new, & while testing it out, we all told him he sounded horrible. Now here's where it gets interesting. While talking into the wireless mike, he sounded horrible, but when he spoke into the wireless receiver, which is also a mike plugged into the radio, he sounded fine. The repeater owner with the 5550, & newest FW said he had a new kit at work, & he'd take it home & try on the weekend. Talking into the wireless mike, he sounded OK, but talking into the wireless receiver which is a mike plugged into the radio, he sounded terrible. So each had a different problem. The guy with the 4550 returned his, & the guy with the 5550 just brought it back to work & put it back on the shelf. Each wireless mike was no more than 5 feet from the receiver. GARY

Interesting. I'm looking at this specifically for the XRP5550. Has anyone tried it using the internal Bluetooth instead of the Bluetooth equipment mic? Common sense says the Bluetooth mic is for the 4550 as it didn't have built in Bluetooth.

For what it is worth, my PMMN4097C (bluetooth gateway mic) w/PMMN4095A (bluetooth RSM) has lots of noise on RX (have not even TXd yet because RX is so irritating) when used with my XPR5550. It is usable but barely. On the other hand, when used with my XTL5000 it works like a charm. Absolutely great audio on TX and RX.

Also, the PMMN4095A (bluetooth RSM) works great with my APX7000.

All firmware is up to latest version for XPR, XTL and bluetooth RSM.

For what it is worth.

Hmm, might consider it for the XTL, but it's O3 config....so hmmm....

Have you tried it without the gateway mic or will it not pair with the XPR5550 internal blue tooth?

A friend let me borrow one of these awhile back for an event and we were unsuccessful in getting the mic to pair with the internal bluetooth on any of the 2.0 radios. It looks like the touch pairing is the only way for it to connect, as it will happily pair with an APX 4000 but I could not get the 5550 or 7550 to find it. I think it's kind of a shame that a radio with built in bluetooth needs another adapter just to get NFC pairing.

I can also say that I've experienced background noise on the receive audio. I would agree that it would be annoying in a quiet area, but I didn't find it so bad that it was unbearable.
