So!

My UHF 5550 started a new problem all of a sudden.
It was in a remote configure and worked fine. Removed it from one vehicle and installed in a new one and now im getting the red flashing light on the screen and i cant TX on any channels.
When i put the programming cable on i dont get any accessory connected tone via the mic input nor on the rear accessory jack. Same when i plug a microphone in no joy. I can read the radio via BT.
Tried a different control head and ribbon cable and no different. Even making it a front mount no change...

Ideas?

Firmware R02.40.11
Codeplug 08.04.04
Bootloader R02.40.10

Saw this on a XPR5350 recently, too. Not sure what the blinking red LED means. The radio did TX/RX fine on an analog test channel.

I've also seen blinking red LED on a channel for which the GOB is enabled (and flashed for Connect Plus trunking), but the Connect Plus trunking EID is not enabled in the radio. Disabling the GOB for that channel eliminated the flashing red LED.

I'll dig through the service manual and see if I can find the cause of this issue.

Im not sure what caused this. Was working fine in one vehicle and moved it to another and now im having these issues. On my VHF 5550 i have the red light blinking too but there im able to transmit and read the radio fine with the programming cable. Unlike on the UHF5550 i can only read/program via BT and cant tx due to any microphone not being detected

I actually had a similar problem with an XPR7550, after I replaced the housing on the XPR7550 the red led began flashing. I was able to get rid of the problem by recovering the radio so that might be worth a try for your radios.

Cant do a recovery since i cant connect the front or rear programming cable to the radio. Its not detecting either for whatever reason. And can only read/write via bluetooth :(

Have you made a backup of the codeplug ? If yes, try to write it down, see if solves the problem, my friend had this problem on his 7550 and he got the settings back by re-writing the radio with backup codeplug he made, he didn't have the programming cable so maybe your cable is broken, try with another one ??

The blinking red light when the radio still functions is caused by a firmware mismatch between the display firmware and the radio firmware. New radios with this problem can be fixed by doing a recover operation.

You radio with the failure after changing vehicles could be a number of issues. The rear connector can only be accessed for programming if you remove anything connected to the front connector, install the rear cable and reboot the radio. It may or may not tell you it is there, since the rear port is NOT a GCAI port. None of these radios will function if USB is attached in more than one spot, they share the same bus.

I have hundreds of new GenII radios come from the factory with the blinking red LED issue and opened a case on it. Rather than ship them back the fast solution was to recover each radio locally. The case has been resolved and the issue at the plant has been fixed.

Cable works on all my other radios. And its just not the programming cable its also ANY microphone. When i plug a mic into the radio now i get a bonk tone. And i get the disconnect tone when i remove the mic and i get no sound at all when i try to TX.. But the radio dont detect the mic so it wont transmit

Ill try the recovery on my VHF radio since it still has the blinking red light but does transmit. And my UHF has the blinking red light and wont transmit.. and got another UHF 5550 now that has no blinking red light but cant read with front or rear programming cables, and 3 different mics dont work on it.

Those are all serious issues that point more towards someone not doing things correctly. What you would have to do to fix these radios can't be discussed here.

By chance did you swap control heads or disconnect control heads, while the brick still had power to it?

As far as i know i didnt, no.

My VHF is working fine. TX and RX and can program front or rear programming and over BT even with the red light flashing

The UHF dont have a red light flashing but i cant read/write via front or rear programming but can over BT. And cant TX on it due to the bonking when connecting any style microphone. ID do the recovery.. but since i cant connect to the standard programming ports.. Maybe ill try removing it as a remote mount and put it as a front and see if that changes anything

If the FW is too old the remote mount won't work on the 4550's. Don't know of any limitations on the 5550s.

Made the UHF into a front mount and works fine. So either an issue with my remote cable or.. Something els? So ill just keep it as a front mount for now since i have a center console in this vehicle both radios fit nicely in

Red light flashing. Cant connect the microphone nor programming cable, and rear programming cable wont read/write either. But can read/write via BT
Here is a photo with required info. Iv sold this radio off but cant give it to the guy when we cant transmit on it and thats a must.. Was working good in the car and this issues all started when i put it in the truck and didnt change anything.

Iv tried 3 other control heads and no different. Its currently a front mount setup
