Do I need to save the tuning data before I perform an XPR5550 firmware update?

I am currently running firmware R02.05 and the latest version is R02.40 , I think. Are there any issues in updating the firmware in one go or do I need to do it in stages?

Are there any issues with R02.40?

Thanks

You do not need to make a backup of the tuning partition, but it is always wise to keep a backup of your tuning partition on hand.

You can upgrade straight to 2.40 without any problems.

The only prominent bug I am aware of with 2.40 is the scan reboot issue. If you set your ambient audio profile to loud, and enable scan, the radio will periodically reboot itself.

Motorola is aware of the issue. There should be a quarterly firmware release coming out anytime now.

Thanks Mars.

With my analog stuff I normally like to program codeplugs myself. However, as I'm unfamiliar with all the DMR bells and whistles (enormous contact lists, roaming etc), I was planning on using a ready made codeplug. However, the latest ready made codeplug was created using CPS v11. I am currently using CPS v10 which will not read the latest ready made codeplug...although it reads an older CP no problem.

Will I need to update my firmware to R02.40 in order to use the latest "ready made" CP or do I just need to use CPS v11? I noticed that when I used an older cp, CPS v10 seems to automatically amend the cp with default data if there is a mismatch.

Thanks

I would use CPS 11. You can open older codeplugs, no problem. If there are new features in 2.40/CPS 11, your firmware (if older) will not reference them. No worries. Upgrading to 2.40/CPS 11 is the way to go.
