I have several radios that I loan out from time to time and a console to allow me to inhibit them if the people don't bring them back in a timely manner. Most of the radios were capable of being inhibited via MDC, but I cannot seem to find the area in the CPS to turn it on for the XPR6500. I suppose I could kill the radios via the DMR side of the house, but I'd like to know if it is even possible. I've seen posts where it is stated that it can be done, but I cannot get the feature to work.

It's very easy to do on the DMR side. Basically you program your radio as the 'administrator' with all the menu goodies like remote inhibit enabled, while having all the removed from the users radios. When you want to inhibit a user you basically call them up via the contacts menu and select 'Radio Disable'.

Yep. I have that and use it for the DMR side, but there are some radios that are set up for GMRS that I'd like to use Selective Inhibit. Works like a champ on the older radios that I have. I just thought it may be available on the Trbo line.

Unfortunately, the only radio disable options I'm aware of on MotoTRBO portables are digital-only. Yet another great feature (like intelligent audio) that Motorola has decided will only work on digital channels.

Very true. Some of the locals are using XPR4580's to listen to local Gov't trunking systems because they know they can not be inhibited. The system boss in this county, & the one south are upset because of this. Rumor is the guy south of me is pestering "M" to "fix" this so he can inhibit the XPR radios. GARY

I am betting that the 'E' series after the next software/firmware step will be capable. -maybe. Moto doesn't seem to follow up anymore on feature requests...

Well, the XPR7550 sort of works. Once an inhibit command is sent to the 7550, the radio screen goes blank, however, there is no indication that the radio was inhibited when read with CPS and the radio intro screen "MotoTRBO" still appears during POST before it goes blank. The XPR6500 does not do any of this and just continues to work as normal. Oh well.

At least the 7550 lets you know the radio is working. Too bad no one thought to have it diaplay 'Stunned' or 'Mouthbreather!' when it powers up in -dead- mode.

I like the way the older radios do. They look as if the radio is just plain broken. Then when you read the radio, it tells you that it has been set to inhibit.
