So i got ahold of an XPR7550E UHF and decided to convert it to an XiR P8668i so i can play with full FPP. Are there any compelling reasons to not keep this an XiR radio? I am programming it with a region unlocked version of 16 (build 823). Its currently at FW 2.09 and I have no plan on updating it to anything that needs the CPS 2.0 abortion. I just wasn't sure if there was anything I am not aware of on why I would want to convert it back to a 7550E

As a side question, is the housing of a 7550 the same as the 7550E? This one is beat up and I want to recase it.

Thanks!

I can't answer anything in the first paragraph, however I can give you a definitive answer on the housings, they are very different internally and luckily for you the e version is considerably cheaper. For a UHF, stud antenna XPR7550e the housing is a PMLN7425A (PMLN7427A is the same thing here in Europe).

Are you trying to draw attention to yourself? You know the underlying answer.

KNP, great picture thanks. So to be clear a beat up e case could be made nice with a new non e case (obviously for personal use only, as the non e case would reduce the resale value)?

No they are not interchangeable. Also a new 7550e case is vastly cheaper than the 7550 housings which are frankly overpriced, even in my part of the world. Don't bodge it, fit the right thing with the right number of flexes. $85 well spent IMHO
