As far as I know, the radio has the most current FW revision.

I've searched high and low and cannot find any provision in the CPS to disable the MDC1200 ID display. I'm using this to listen to LAFD and the decoded ID remains on the screen until I twist the volume knob or make another selection. It's a total PITA to see which channel the activity is coming from, as the ID takes up the entire display.

Does anyone have a work-around?

Also, is there a way to disable DOS completely? I've turned it down as much as possible, but it's still muting the entire packet and clipping transmissions.

Finally, is there any way to enable infinite backlight with a button to toggle it on/off?

I'm, used to the ASTRO25 and APX school of thought, not the ass-backwards dumbed-down TRBO CPS.

Thanks.

I think the backlight may stay on if the ign sense wire is used.

Yes, hard to hook up an ignition sense wire to it.

Have you tried simply turning off all RX signaling systems? You'll hear the raw data of course but it shouldn't display anything on RX. Of course, I've programmed many, many 7550s but have yet to touch a 7580 so could be totally off!
