Hello All,

I've searched around a bit, but cant find the exact process, if possible to swap bricks on the XPR8300 or 8400 repeaters. I have about 5 8300 units sitting on the shop floor with dead PA's. I would love to swap the bricks to use them as spare units in a pinch.

Any one have the procedure for this..

Thanks, Rob

You can switch the receiver with the transmitter. What you should do is before you replace the heat sink on the new transmitter add some good heat sink compound and that should give much much better service life. That sticky film substance from big M dries up over time and cause the transmitter to over heat because the heat sink is unable to carry the heat away from the transmitter. Hope this helps

Ken, thank you. Is there any special programming or steps after the physical switch? Thx, rob

No special programming afterwards. Just be careful with the lining up of the flat ribbon cables. Take your time don't rush. Rob I sent you an email also.

You should ALWAYS remove the slow speed control on the system fan by cutting the brown speed control lead on the fan circuit.

I have always read and save the tuning information using Moto tuner before the swap, and then make sure things look good after the swap using an IFR on an analog channel. Then you have the tuning information as a baseline if needed.

Always cut the brown wire...... AND keep the fan and heat sink clean.
