XTL 2-tone decode Night Mode?

I am trying to set up a XTL2500 with a channel that behaves as a night mode. Quiet until paged. So far I have set up:

1. A system that is 2-tone decode "AND" though the channel is carrier squelch
2. A set of tones, the only set in the radio
3. Assigned the night mode channel to that system

Now when I generate signal the radio still operates in carrier squelch and when I send it the tones no beeps or anything.

Can anyone give some pointers?

I think to use AND squelch correctly, you have to use PL or DPL AND tones, I'm not sure if it will work with CSQ.

Try to get the tones working first with OR squelch to make sure they are recognized properly, then turn AND squelch on would be my suggestion.

I tried it with OR squelch first and nothing was different then. I immediately changed it to AND thinking I had missed a step.

Ive always had a problem with the XTL/XTS platform decoding the QCII using CSQ. Ive tried many configurations and never got it to work. If you do get it to work, please post the config that worked for you.

The customer does use a PL but I have it disabled on the regular channel because they also use MPL.

If I was to program the night mode channel for PL, and hard code an encode PL, you are saying it should work better then?

I would certainly try it. What have you to lose, since it's not working now, you've got to do SOMETHING.

There is no problem that can't be solved by an indeterminate amount of messing around. :D

I have successfully programmed my VHF XTL5000 for long B tone decode on the National Weather Service frequencies. They don't transmit a PL, and the radio properly decodes the 10 second 1050Hz tone every time.

In the conventional personality under Quik-Call II I have the "Call Alert Decode" and "In Call Alert Enable" boxes checked. I used a menu option for "VMUTE" to turn on and off the call alert feature.
