I have an XTL 5000 mid power that will not active the emergency tones when it receives an emergency from another radio. It's setup identically to my 2500. Happens both on Analog and Digital. Radio decodes MDC IDs and Astro IDs just fine. I have Alert & Display on the Emergency Alarm Rx Indicator Type under TPS.

Any thoughts on why it won't decode an Emergency Signal?

Mdc or P25? Emergency call or emergency alarm? Conventional or trunked?

Conventional all around. Emergency alarm via pressing the orange Man Down. Both on MDC and P25.

It's old... Host is R06.01.00, DSP R06.00.00, CH is R01 something.

A firmware update for that radio is mandatory. It is a software-defined radio. You are using firmware that is more than 10 years old. The radio will only work as well as the brains inside.

Would the firmware fix the Emergency receiving for sure? It's just a desk radio not used for anything other than the occasional transmit from my home office. Mostly it sits and records.

Is Silent Emergency enabled? See attachment.

There are various fixes for emergency not working correctly. Your firmware is from July 2005.

No Silent Emergency enabled on any of the radios in question.

According to our release notes, It looks like APCO P25 emergency receive was added in R05.00.00 so it wouldn't surprise me at all if it did need a firmware upgrade to work properly.

ADP didn't even work reliably in R06, so yeah, boot that thing up to current.

You jumped right to Step 4 :bang:

Well, I wanted to make sure that I wasn't missing any other options. While I understand that the firmware is quite old, I like to know what could be other possible points of failure. Perhaps I'm over looking something else; like Mars suggested, could it be Silent Emergency? (It's not). That's why I said in my original post, "Any thoughts on why it won't decode an Emergency Signal?", because I like having options on my list to check off. Especially because I often don't get time during the week to play with my personal stuff, so on the weekend I have some options to try out in succession to see if it resolves x problem. In my opinion it could also help others searching in the future if they have the issue as well.

I have contacted Jason for a Firmware update for this weekend.

It won't decode a em rx because the firmware needs bumped up. Either way the enabling of it in cps is under the radio wide I believe and in mdc and the trs somewhere. Both need to be enabled In the radio wide tab and mdc or trs.
