XTL1500 firmware question

Hello,

i have an XTL1500 and when read by the CPS under versioning it says n/a under firmware and dsp. the codeplug is 508048-00148C-0. Also under feature set it dose not show all the features of the flash code. Is this a firmware problem.? Thanks for any help.

Are you looking at a codeplug stored on disk, or reading the radio directly? If you're opening a CPG file, you won't see firmware data.

I have a feeling that this is an invalid flash for the XTL1500 because it can't do some of the items together at the same time, specific to 3600 analog trunking and 9600 P25 trunking.

G806: ASTRO IMBE Digital Operation
G51: SmartZone Systems Operation

G173: SmartZone Omnilink MultiZone Operation
G361: ASTRO 25 9600 Baud Trunking
G788: 9600 Baud Trunking

I would believe that G361 and G788 would have to be removed to do 3600 mixed mode and the opposite for a P25 system. It looks like someone crammed an XTL2500 or 5000 flash into it and CPS doesn't know what to do with it when compared to the model #.

If they did that with depot, that would explain the inability for the radio versioning to be read. The flash was to be at least available in the base model for that type of upgrade to be possible. If someone stuck an incorrect flash in there without upgrading the model number of the radio, that thing isn't going to work reliably, or at all, for most things. I have seen this when someone didn't have a replacement control head. Its a giant C-F and must be fixed.
