What I Have:

XTL5000 Consolette 700/800 MHz with the W9 control head option (meaning there isn't one on the front panel of the consolette)

Radio is connected to a MIP5000 Digital Gateway connected to a MIP5000 Console in a Mobile command post.

Short of finding my paperwork from when this radio was purchased 8 years ago (or ripping the consolette out and apart)- is there any easy way to tell what encryption board / encryption format is in this radio?

I know I ordered it with encryption from the factory just don't remember what it was. Too many years ago and we never implemented the encryption then. . . . .

Thanks!

This information will be displayed to you when you put the radio into service mode. To accomplish this, turn the radio off then back on. Press the home key five times within 10 seconds.

Mars-

I would love to do that. . . . However, my XTL5000 Consolette does not have a display. And no remote with a display connected. Digital controlled XTL5000 Consolette to a MIP5000 gateway has no control head/display board. I have no other display options available to plug into the Consolette and cycling power disconnects it from the MIP5000 gateway so pressing the home button 5 times on the console screen has no effect.

Unfortunately, there's no other way. Unless you pull the UCM out and pop it into a XTS5000 and do the service mode test.

Thats what I was afraid of. Well now to schedule a trip to where the equipment is and rip it out of the rack.

Thanks!

I'm fairly certain if you had someone reset the consolette and then hit the home button on the MIP channel interface 5 times as soon as it comes up it will work. I'm 95% sure I've done this before.

Well, I will be at the mobile Command post in question tomorrow morning. I will make sure I have a home button on the screen for this base station and give it a try.

95% sure you've tried it b4 is better than nothing.

I'll let you know tomorrow sometime.

Or, you can hook up an RCH3000 or MC3000 (if you have access to one) desk set to the consolette and hit the "Home" button on it 5x. The desksets emulate a W9 control head.
