XTL5000 Shorted out

As soon as 12v is applied to the radio the inline fuse blows. There is a short somewhere in the radio. Is this a serviceable condition or does the whole board need to be replaced.

Haven't checked the service manual, but I would imagine there is a reverse voltage protection diode across the power leads near the connector. That's the first place I check for the symptoms you have.
