So my radio currently has a model II AN housing on it... I just upgraded the radio to a model III and I can only find BN model III hosuings. These will work with my radio, right? What's different in the housing other than the PTT paddle? Thanks

Do some searching; this topic has been covered in other threads on this board. The on-site search sucks, use Google - add "site:communications.support" after your search term to restrict searches to this site only.

Thanks, but I have searched for over an hour and can't find what I'm looking for... Any help would be appreciated. Is it as simple as swapping the electronics from the an housing to the bn housung or wiil the stuff not fit physically? Trying to figure out if it's worth it before I spend the case on a bn housing. Thanks again

Hmm. I looked a bit too and I'm not seeing the post that I am thinking of. I found this:

http://communications.support/threa...500-2500-is-AN-or-BN-with-physical-inspection

However, the upshot of the post I can't seem to find is that the "AN" chassis and PCB have a "waist" cutout on either side about in the middle, the AN housings have plastic square posts there. The BN radios do not have them. If you try to stuff one into the other the posts push the housing out in the middle and it doesn't quite seal. You have to carve the posts out to fit a BN chassis in an AN case with a Dremel. Going the other way, which sounds like what you want to do, is easier; but it still isn't quite a perfect fit - but it's very close.
