You might need to look at your ID's and ensure all decode tick boxes for the channels are ticked :). It too me a lot of stuffing around and experimentation on my MCS's to learn what I have and I'm still learning. Get some cheapie MCS2000 800s or something to fiddle with :).

Under conv perosnality go to signalling. Select mdc and the system you desire. 1 or 2 etc. Also make sure the tick box under mdc system 1 or 2 etc the Dos tab is checked for data operated squelch (This will allow the muting of the mdc tone). Mdc systems are under the main menu listed as mdc system. Go to your mdc tab in conv perosnality and select selective call decode check this box along with call alert decode and in call user alert enable. Check all 3. I believe you really only need the selective call decode but I just set all 3 since they get used where I am.that should do it. This will decode ids on screen snd produce the short "chirp" tone. If you desire the long tone mdc just uncheck the data operated squelch box in mdc system your going to use from main menu Then follow rest of process as before. Most prefer the short tone chirp sound. Let me know if this works for you.

The correct steps to be able to display the MDC ID or alias of incoming transmissions is:

Radio Configuration -> Display & Menu -> PTT ID
Check the box for ID Display, It you want it to display while scanning also, check Scan ID Display
Set - End of Voice timer. 0 = id goes away as soon as you stop RXing. 1-7 Sec for staying after Rx stops

Conventional -> Conventional Personality -> Signaling -> Set to MDC. This will need to be done on each personality you want to display MDC.

That is all you need to display MDC as the OP requested.

Your correct I forgot that part. I mostly had in mind the mdc settings itself and not the ptt id box. Missed that.
