Hello
First off I would like to say how much of a great site this really is and I'd hope to learn learn about my radio, but here is my question.... I've recently purchased a XTS 5000 800mHz that is in great condition and it'll be used for Firefighting/EMS and I have threw the right people(Cheif, County Emergency Management, Sheriff's Office, and system administrator) to get permission to put it on the state system. It powers up normally and self test is good; the battery was made August/2014 and keeps a good long charge. The only problem is that when I bought the radio from the seller he said that after you turn it on and try to put it in service mode didn't work and that after you push the button 5x it would "chirp" and restart itself. Has anyone ever heard of this before? Could it could be a software issue and be corrected on the computer with a new update or is it something more serous?
I'm going to call the local Moto tech in the morning and see what his .2 cents are as well.
