Long time lurker, first time poster. Will the Motorola depot continue to service XTS and XTL radios after support for them has ceased?

Give Moto a shout on the next business day and see what they say: 1-800-814-0601. Please share what you learn from them. Thanks!

It would most likely be on a parts availability/best effort sort of repair for a while, then when they find that most can't be fixed they will just start rejecting them. That's what happens to most radio lines.

It is usually 5 to 7 years from product cancellation, but they already cancelled and no longer provide depot services for the "A" model MT1500 and XTS2500 series that have the 4 meg controllers so YMMV.
Rebanding is also still occurring in border states and the agreement with Sprint/NEXTEL are analog versions of these radios that are similar to the MTS and LCS radios so if they are still providing RB radios then warranty services will still have to be provided.

Also I believe a lot has to do with how flooded the market is as they supported the MTS/MCS for almost a decade after they were initially cancelled. Rebanding flooded the market with XTS2500 and XTL2500 radios and a lot are still new (under 5 year) deployments.

I wouldn't worry about Depot support for the XTS/XTL series. Other than what gsxxr1300r indicated about the "A" series 1500/2500 radios, I expect support for the 2500/5000 and XTL mobiles to continue for several more years. There's just WAY too much of it still in service.

A good way to tell when things are starting to go south is when Motorola starts buying back customer's radios to continue support (as they did with the XTS 3000). That's when you start thinking support is coming to an end.

Thank you all for the replies! The department I am in is being told we are being forced into buying APX series radios within two years because they're ending support for the current XTS/XTL's we have. I thought it sounded fishy however my best guess is the P25 system we are on is ending support for XTS/XTL's in order to push to a full Phase II system.

Tell whomever told your department that to check their information. Field Support for XTS/XTL ends December 31st, 2018.
