Hello, Is there any way to adjust the contrast setting on the XTS2500. I have two and one is too low and the other is a little high. I checked the service mode and cps up and down and cant seem to find a setting. Help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

There is no way that I am aware of. You could mess around with the hardware but its not really practable.

It's a shame there isn't a way to adjust it. I have two in the same boat, one too high & one a little faint.

There is a very small trimpot on the back of the display flex. I believe that adjusts the LCD contrast or "viewing angle", as it's sometimes called.

Google "XTS2500 display" , then click the "Images" tab at the top of the page. You'll see about 10,000 of them...

So the part that you are referring to is the silver dial type thing on the back?

Yup. Mark it's current position with a sharpie in case it's not, then try tweakin' it.

After you pop the case don't disconnect the flex, then put the battery back on so you can power it up with the shell open. Then tweak away...

So Now I opened one of the radios and it has the dial. The other one, however, does not have the dial. So I believe I am stuck with one of the radios.

Hmm. You could buy another display on eBay with a pot, replace yours, then sell the old one - if you have the time to muck about with all of that.

Otherwise, if you look at the PCB, and if it's similar enough you might find they have replaced the pot with a fixed resistor. If it has the pads for a pot, you could solder on a pot and remove the resistor, or try playing with the resistor value, but again that's quite a bit of trouble to go through.

I guess I'll have to purchase a new display. I don't have a soldering iron or the skills

Just so others can see what is there. here is a picture. I looked at my 2500 it dosnt have the pot, but maybe I can bypass a fixed resistor and add one if I ever need to make the adjustment.

What about an XTL? I believe they are fixed as well are they not? I've never noticed anything adjustable in there....
