I had something very similar with my radio as well where I couldn't get DOS to work. What I found I had to do was to enable Call Alert Decode (or Selective Call Decode) - basically the radio has to "do something" with MDC in order for DOS to work.

What kind of radios do you have? I'd be willing to look at your codeplug if I have the CPS for it. Another option would be to post screenshots of the conventional personality and the MDC system.

I have XTS2500 model 3's. Programmed with CPS 19.01. I can get you a copy of the codeplug if you tell me how to send it.

I will try this after lunch and report back. Thanks for the idea.

SOLVED!

Turns out that the tip from exkalibur provided the final piece to the solution. I had already tried all the other ideas, but when I selected "Call Alert Decode" in the Conventional Personality window, the DOS started working.

I haven't tried stepping backwards through the other settings to see what breaks it, for now, I'm just enjoying the absence of MDC!

Thanks again to everyone that offered ideas for the solution to this. I have attached a screenshot of the required setting.

That's odd. I have never had to select "call alert decode" to make DOS work. Below is a screen shot of how I have my XTS set up to get DOS to work.

I was trying to figure out how to keep the muting while also having RX only. I tried the call alert and that worked, so I made it RX only. For hahas I removed the call alert and it was still muting. I had setup a call list, so I figured maybe having an active list caused it to act like the call decode. So I made a new/blank list, but it's still using the old one, even though it's strapped to the new one. Just the latest oddity I'm working through.
